Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 4 slices Artisanal Sourdough Bread Thick-cut, approximately 1 inch thick
  • 1 cup (112g) Mozzarella and Sharp Cheddar Blend Shredded, 1/2 cup of each
  • 3 tbsp (42g) Salted Butter Softened to room temperature
  • 3 cloves (15g) Fresh Garlic Finely minced
  • 1 tsp (1g) Dried Parsley Flakes

Equipment

  • 1 Cast Iron Skillet For even heat distribution and a perfect sear.
  • 1 Metal Spatula To flip the thick-cut sourdough slices.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, cream together the softened butter, minced garlic, and dried parsley until a smooth paste forms.
  2. Spread the garlic butter mixture generously on one side of each sourdough slice, ensuring even coverage to the edges.
Cooking
  1. Place two slices of bread, butter-side down, in a cold skillet, then turn the heat to medium-low.
  2. Pile the shredded mozzarella and cheddar onto the slices in the pan. Top with the remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
  3. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until the bread is a vibrant golden-brown with visible charred edges and the cheese is fully melted.

Notes

Use a lid over the skillet for the first 2 minutes to help the cheese melt faster without burning the garlic.
Always grate your cheese from a block for a better melt.
