Method
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the bulk sausage until browned and cooked through. Drain off any excess grease and spread it evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese over the sausage.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until smooth.
- Pour the egg mixture over the sausage and cheese. Top with the remaining 1 cup of cheese.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted into the middle comes out clean.
- Let the egg bake rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Tip 1: For extra flavor, add 1/2 cup of sautéed onions or bell peppers with the sausage.
Tip 2: Ensure you let the casserole rest before slicing to allow it to fully set, which makes for cleaner slices.
Tip 3: The bake is great for meal prep and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
