Method
- In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, garlic powder, and dried oregano. Mix until smooth.
- Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on one side of each of the 4 slices of bread.
- Place two slices of bread, butter-side-down, in a large, cold non-stick skillet. Layer half the mozzarella, all of the pepperoni, the marinara sauce, and the remaining mozzarella on top of the bread.
- Place the remaining two slices of bread on top, butter-side-up.
- Cook over medium-low heat for 4-5 minutes per side, until the bread is golden-brown and crispy and the cheese is fully melted. For an extra gooey center, cover the pan for the first few minutes of cooking.
- Remove from skillet, let cool for one minute, then slice in half and serve immediately with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
For the best cheese pull, shred your own mozzarella from a block.
Using medium-low heat is crucial! This prevents the bread from burning before the cheese melts.
Feel free to add other favorite pizza toppings like cooked mushrooms, olives, or peppers.
