  • 1/4 cup (60ml) rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) honey For extra shine
  • 1 tbsp (15g) fresh ginger grated
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp (8g) cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) water cold
  • 1 tbsp (9g) white sesame seeds toasted
  • 2 stalks green scallions thinly sliced

Equipment

  • 1 Small Whisk For blending the slurry.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, honey, ginger, and garlic until sugar is mostly dissolved.
  2. Place meatballs in the white ceramic slow cooker insert and pour the sauce over them, tossing to coat.
  3. Cover and cook on Low for 3-4 hours until meatballs are heated through and aromatics are fragrant.
  4. 30 minutes before serving, mix cornstarch and water; stir into the slow cooker. Turn heat to High and cook until the sauce is a thick, dark amber, reflective glaze.
  5. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and fresh scallion rounds immediately before serving to maintain visual vibrancy.

Notes

For extra texture, sear the meatballs in a pan before adding to the slow cooker.
Ensure your cornstarch water is cold to avoid lumps in the glossy sauce.
