Ingredients

Moon Rock Elements
  • 2 cups (240g) Almond flour Provides the gritty texture
  • 1 cup (200g) Granulated sugar Adds structure and sparkle
  • 2 large (60ml) Egg whites Binding agent
  • 1/4 cup (30g) Cornstarch For the matte finish
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Tonic water Contains quinine for blue glow
  • 1 tablet Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) Crushed for neon green glow
  • 3 drops Neon food gel Pink, Lime, and Blue colors

Equipment

  • 3 Food-grade paint brushes Stiff bristles for speckling
  • 1 UV Blacklight To activate the phosphorescence
  • 1 Fine-mesh Sieve For dusting the matte coating

Method

Forming the Stones
  1. Combine almond flour, sugar, and egg whites in a bowl until a gritty, moldable paste forms.
  2. Hand-sculpt irregular shapes to mimic river stones, ensuring no two look exactly alike.
Decorating and Glowing
  1. Mix your glow liquids with neon gels and dab onto the stones using a stiff brush for a thick, matte look.
  2. Sift cornstarch over the damp paint to create a chalky, realistic finish.
  3. Flick concentrated glow liquid onto the rocks to create tiny luminescent speckles.

Notes

Use a blacklight to fully reveal the phosphorescent effect.
Ensure the almond flour is not too fine to maintain the 'gritty' river rock texture.
